Tuesday marks the day when the financial and military nerve centers of America were attacked, leaving thousands dead.

A number of heroic feats were performed by many people, one of whom was Rick Rescorla. Born in England, Rescorla came to the United States and after joining the U.S. Army took part in the first major conflict in Viet Nam’s Il Drang Valley.

Before the Towers fell, Rescorla, a security director for an investment company, made numerous trips into the buildings and by some accounts led over 2,700 to safety, before he was killed.

A few weeks later our forces struck back in Afghanistan, followed by the Iraq invasion in March the following year, with Baghdad being toppled on April 9th.

For a brief moment the country was united, looking to God for guidance. However, ‘politics’ soon entered the fray, and many politicians began referring to Iraq as the “dumb war”.

Let me remind you who they were and what they said. John Murtha (D-PA), now deceased, called Marines murderers;  David Bonior (D-MI), and Jim McDermott (D-WA), visited Baghdad prior to the invasion for a photo op; Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), wore a burqa while meeting with Syria’s Bashar Assad; John Kerry (D-MA), called our troops terrorists; Dick Durbin (D-IL), called them Nazi’s, while Hillary Clinton (D-NY), and her media forces continually bashed President Bush, and then took out a full page ad accusing General Petraeus of being a liar. Let’s not forget that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), said; “This war is lost,” while men were on the battlefield.

Before America left Iraq 4,484 troops had been killed, while thousands of others had been wounded. I’m sure their loved ones didn’t believe their sacrifice was ‘dumb.’

Some think we have been at war long enough, but it started long before 9-11. Here’s a rundown of some of the attacks committed by muslim extremists prior to that day:

10-23-83 Beirut Barracks Bombing – 243 Marines killed
01-25-93 Shooting outside CIA headquarters – 2 killed, 3 wounded
02/26/93 First WTC bombing – 6 killed, 1,042 wounded
06/25/96 Khobar Towers Saudi Arabia – 19 Airmen killed
02/24/97 Empire State Building Shooting – 1 killed, 6 wounded
10/12/00 Attack on USS Cole – 19 sailors killed

Americans posses some of the greatest minds when it comes to sports; they know who the best clutch hitter is, who to use on the power play, or who to put in when it’s third and long. Yet, when it comes to the dangers we face, we haven’t a clue.

We bend over backwards so as not to offend any culture or religion, which leaves us vulnerable to the danger that confronts us at this hour.

You may not think we are involved in a world war, but your enemy is, and his greatest desire is to destroy the United States and it citizens.

As the election approaches, I will again remind you which political party continually trashed the war effort and our troops, while they were fighting and dying to protect you.

Keep in mind which party put their own self interests ahead of you and our national security, and vote them out of office.

If Americans never forgot, this country would look a lot different today. As you stated, Americans have very short memories and THAT could be the ultimate failure of this country.

  2. Susan Fulcher Says:

Watching commemorations of 9/11 this morning brought back the anger I felt on that very day. As for the Congressional and Senate leaders you mentioned above, their only true concern is keeping the political office they hold. They all are so narcissistic they really have no true concerns for our country or our brave men and women that protect us on every front.

For some Americans the weight of the events of 9/11/01 has never been lifted. We share that weight and deep grief anew today… And yes Steve there are other events that we must remember too; your list only begins to tell the story of terror against this nation!

Our troops may come home, and I pray they do. But this war will never end because it has never been clearer that it is a “spiritual” warfare destroying our nation! And unfortunately the foes within America are more dangerous than those without. Praying with you!
