“Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present Generation to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it.” John Adams
There are no more Roman emperors, so you don’t have to worry about Caesar. Our forefathers kicked a king out and unselfish generations before us rid the world of dictators.

We have enjoyed prosperity beyond belief, but tonight we are at a crossroad, in danger of losing the liberties many have died for.

I have been fortunate to know many wonderful people, many of whom are reading this. However, I want to mention one man I have come to know over the last few years. We have prayed together with others since the war started, for the needs of our country and others, and I have come to respect his wisdom – as I do with many of you.

Affectionately known as ‘Big Dog’ to family and friends, he is one of the most humble men I’ve been privileged to know. While speaking with this weekend he mentioned Matthew 6:21 where Jesus said; “…for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

‘Big Dog’ went on to say that the best translation for the word treasure means “what’s important to you?” In essence Jesus was saying; “Whatever is important to you, is where your heart will be.

His point was that when the ACLU (and other groups) worked to remove Bible reading and praying in Jesus’ name from schools, scripture from off buildings and crosses from public lands while we stood by, means it wasn’t important to us. If it were, we would have acted long ago.

Since we didn’t, we are now in this mess. We have been born free, in a nation where we are privileged to select our leaders and the election is now down to two men.

Look at President Obama’s record and what he intends to do if allowed to remain in office. He has told us that he wants to “fundamentally transform” America and has been doing so at a fast pace. We have seen government expand beyond what the Founders intended, witnessed his hostility to Christianity, traditional marriage, the unborn and Israel. Let’s not forget he continues to lie about Benghazi

The challenger is Mitt Romney, who is a Mormon, and who showed himself to be ‘very presidential’ during the debates. His actions won the respect and confidence of millions during this exposure, and at times, the way the media fired questions at him, made one think he was actually president. He supports traditional marriage, the rights of the unborn, private enterprise and a strong defense.

Yet, many Christians have said they will not vote at all because of his religious beliefs. What pious dribble!

We’re in this mess because, to paraphrase ‘Big Dog,’ being involved in the political arena and defending our Christian heritage wasn’t important to us. So it comes down to this.

Its time to do your part, but as John Adams warned; “Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual – or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.” (1)

Voting for the one whose values best represents America is only a start. If this is successful, then we must remain vigilant. If the Lord allows us to have a new president it will only be the beginning. We must also hold the House and take Senate in order to repeal the health care law. Much work must be done in order to return America to a constitutionally limited republic.

If not, we may find ourselves a situation Winston Churchill described; “Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves.

Note: If you think of it, keep Big Dog in your prayers as he was hospitalized today.

  1. Susan Fulcher Says:

As Ronald Reagan told his son, Michael, when the family was seated at the dinner table one night during Reagan’s pre-election bid, “We are fighting for the soul of America.” This statement sums up the crucial vote Christians must make today. Vote for Biblical principles. Our God is merciful and gives us second chances, even though we don’t deserve His mercy and grace. But, that is our God !
    Praying for you “Big Dog.”
