New York Governor Andrew Cuomo slammed the country last week by saying America “was never that great.” All this coming from a guy who grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, never worked a day in his life and whose family has stuffed themselves at the public trough for decades.cuomoWEB

Now that he’s stepped all over himself, he’s back-peddling. Typical career politician.

His father, Mario Cuomo, was also a previous Governor of New York and his brother Chris is currently a news anchor at CNN.12193360_1638437259742257_9210843239932589607_n

We’ve heard a great deal about our greatness and have been subjected to hearing elites, like the Cuomo’s, trash the nation.

However, let’s take a look to see Who is really responsible for America rising up as the world’s super power.

During the 1830’s a French political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville trekked across America in search of her greatness.

“After a thorough examination he communicated in his book, Democracy In America: “I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers—and it was not there. . . . . in her fertile fields and boundless forests—and it was not there. . . . .in her rich mines and her vast world commerce—and it was not there. . . . in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution—and it was not there.  Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power.  America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.”Unknown

In other words, de Tocqueville said that our civil government will not work without the people being virtuous, which is the product of the religious influence of the church. Minsters were involved in every aspect of the public affairs, of America. They colonized and formed many of our states, they wrote our laws and (state) constitutions, they served as judges and lawyers, they established schools and universities, and they participated directly in civl government.(1)

John Witherspoon is the only pastor to sign The Declaration of Independence. Witherspoon “literally discipled the nation…while President of Princeton he trained not only ministers but leaders in all areas of life. One man came to study theology, but Biblical principles of law and government were so impressed upon him that we went on to become the chief architect of the Constitution and the fourth president of the United States – James Madison.” (2)$(KGrHqR,!rgFCD(T!CmPBQlvhf,hK!~~60_35

Witherspoon had a huge impact training:

1 vice president

3 Supreme Court justices

10 Cabinet Members

12 governors

60 Congressmen (21 Senators and 39 Congressmen)

Plus many members of the Constitutional Convention and many state congressmen. (3)

Witherspoon also said: He is the best friend to American liberty, who is most sincere and active in promoting true and undefiled religion, and who sets himself with the greatest firmness to bear down profanity and immorality of every kind.

Whoever is an avowed enemy of God, I scruple not to call him an enemy of his country …”

In order to stop tyranny Christians must become activly involved in civil affairs like Witherspoon. We have to return, as the old prophet Jeremiah reminds us “to the old paths,  which is our roots in Christ and the Bible.unknown

We don’t know how America works, because we’re ignorant of scripture and when that happens “the man” (government) comes and wraps his hands around our throats.

As Horace Greely reminds us “It is impossible to enslave mentally or socially a Bible reading people. The principles of the Bible are the ground work of human freedom.” (4)
