georgewashingtonatvalleyforge5Our forefathers would have acted swiftly, without batting an eye, if Colin Kaepernick made his comments in their day.

Those boys were serious about liberty and didn’t take too kindly when someone came along and bashed the country.

I’m going to give you a brief history lesson. All you have to do is punch in the name of the person I’m going to tell you about to check the facts.

His name was Jacob Duche, a fiery patriot who did much in the early days for the cause of American liberty.

On September 7, 1774 he was given the honor of opening the first session of the Continental Congress in prayer. He also read from Psalm 35 that day while Boston was under siege.

Those present were greatly moved by his prayer that day, leaving no doubt Who Duche was making his petitions to.

Duche was also one of the first pastor’s to become a chaplain in the Continental Army.b62c3ae2-3ffe-40ea-92c6-8da584d1adfe

However, things went south in 1777 when General Howe occupied Philadelphia – the same year Washington and his troops were in the crucible at Valley Forge.british-grenadier

Duche was imprisoned and likely tortured by Lord Howe’s men. As a result, he wrote a letter to Washington urging him to give up the cause and surrender.

I’m sure whatever Duche endured was horrific and modern day Americans would most likely cut him some slack.

However, while Washington and his boys were half-starved and freezing along the banks of the Schuylkill River (pronounced School-kill), the letter from Duche arrived.1-2-3C3-25-ExplorePAHistory-a0b4d4-a_349

After reading it, Washington was hot which led to a trial where Duche was convicted of Treason against the state of Pennsylvania. His property was confiscated and he was forced to flee to England in disgrace.

I’ve had enough of people saying they’ll defend the right of some moron to speak out against the country – especially during a time of war.

People like Colin Kaepernick have contributed nothing to the cause of freedom and greatness of America, yet they’ll gladly suck up everything the country has to offer.

If life is so bad here in these United States, he should take his millions and leave – but he won’t.

The whole matter is a head-fake by Kaepernick to divert attention from the real issue behind his “protest” – he’s a third string QB on the verge of being cut by the 49ers.

When people trash our foundations, they’re not only trashing the flag like Kaepernick did in this case, but they’re trashing us.

Why? Because they hate what we and the nation stand for.

Next time some jack-ass speak’s ill of the nation remind them of these words of Sam Adam’s: “If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countryman.”

Then tell them to leave before you throw them out.

NOTE: Just to show Duche was no slouch, I’ve also copied his prayer for you. He leaves no doubt Who he was speaking to.

O Lord our Heavenly Father, high and mighty King of kings, and Lord of lords, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers on earth and reignest with power supreme and uncontrolled over all the Kingdoms, Empires and Governments; look down in mercy, we beseech Thee, on these our American States, who have fled to Thee from the rod of the oppressor and thrown themselves on Thy gracious protection, desiring to be henceforth dependent only on Thee. To Thee have they appealed for the righteousness of their cause; to Thee do they now look up for that countenance and support, which Thou alone canst give. Take them, therefore, Heavenly Father, under Thy nurturing care; give them wisdom in Council and valor in the field; defeat the malicious designs of our cruel adversaries; convince them of the unrighteousness of their Cause and if they persist in their sanguinary purposes, of own unerring justice, sounding in their hearts, constrain them to drop the weapons of war from their unnerved hands in the day of battle!

Be Thou present, O God of wisdom, and direct the councils of this honorable assembly; enable them to settle things on the best and surest foundation. That the scene of blood may be speedily closed; that order, harmony and peace may be effectually restored, and truth and justice, religion and piety, prevail and flourish amongst the people. Preserve the health of their bodies and vigor of their minds; shower down on them and the millions they here represent, such temporal blessings as Thou seest expedient for them in this world and crown them with everlasting glory in the world to come. All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Savior.”

Amen.
