ArticleVConstitutionAs December 7 approaches we’ll be reminded of when our Pacific Fleet was destroyed by the Japs in 1941, ushering the US into war.

I don’t know what the spiritual condition of the nation was back then, but I can tell you we’re in trouble today. Since taking office, despite strong opposition from an overwhelming majority of Americans, President Obama has imposed his radical agenda upon us in an unlawful manner.

The most egregious was the Affordable Care Act that not only destroyed the free-market health care system, but assaulted private property rights of citizens.

The implementation of this unjust law “strikes at the core of America’s Judeo-Christian values.” Simply put it attacks “the belief that the individual can find salvation. That the individual is worth saving.” (1) To our government, the ruling class that now occupies DC, people mean nothing.

Next Saturday state legislators from around the country will meet at George Washington’s historic Mount Vernon estate in Virginia to begin looking at ways to amend the US Constitution. At this time, approximately thirty states plan to send legislators, while more may choose to participate in the coming days.

One of the main organizers is Indiana State Senator David Long, who tells us what’s driving this; “The purpose of this Mount Vernon Assembly is to foster communication and interaction among the states in pursuit of a state-led effort to amend the U.S. Constitution, as provided for in Article V of the Constitution.

The assembly will not be considering any specific constitutional amendments, but rather discussing the steps necessary to take action on this state-led amendment option, as well as the structure and rules required if a convention were to occur. My involvement …springs from my serious concern with the direction in which our country is headed and the apparent inability of our federal leaders in Washington, D.C. to enact serious, needed fiscal reforms.

I believe that the states must stand up and exercise their legitimate powers under Article V of thecsg_opengraph Constitution to help rein in the federal government, which has seemingly lost touch with the American people and ceased to be bound by any limitations.

Things will not change with one meeting, but this could signal the beginning of something significant. Your involvement may be required down the road, but all I’m asking of you is that you pray for God’s leading and protection over this body.

No doubt political parties at the state and federal level will try to mess things up in order to hang on to power.

We don’t hear too much from our pulpits that God is livid with his people. Might make the sheep uncomfortable, but we do know scripture records plainly how He feels about national iniquities, and at times He used weak nations about the size of New Jersey, to spank his people. Don’t think this can’t happen to us (Judges 3:8).

Next time, I’ll show you how God moved in the heart of one pastor prior to the Pearl Harbor attack. Again, I don’t know the spiritual condition of the nation then, but I can tell you it wasn‘t as demented as it is today.

May our G-D bless these public servants with wisdom from on high, with Divine insight and the strength to move forward, regardless of the personal cost.
