As the election approaches, I want to bring to your attention some things to consider before you go into the voting booth. John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court declared that Americans should select Christian’s for political office.

Many of you, if not you, then your family and friends for sure, didn’t do this. Instead, a sizeable number put a man in office we knew nothing about.

Back in the Old Testement, when the workload became too burdensome for Moses, his father-in-law, Jethro, made a suggestion found in Exodus 18:21 to make his job easier.

Although well intentioned, Dr. J. Vernon McGee tells us this was not part of God’s plan. Nonetheless, as we prepare to select a president, there are some good principles for us to follow: “Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as rulers…”

We are to select leaders:

1. Who fear God: This week at the UN, Obama made it clear he favors Islam over the founding principles of the United States. Secondly, his policies have shown a clear hostility towards God with his stance on abortion, marriage, and in the repugnant manner he has treated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel. Especially after the way our Founders framed the government, a serious student of scripture knows this alone disqualifies him from holding office.

2. Who are men (and women) of truth: The president, his secretary of state, and  ambassador to the UN are actively engaged in a covering up what really occurred in Libya (It’s the same thing over and over again whenever the Clintons hold office). Instead of defending the interests of the United States, he maintains the violence was the result of a video slamming mohammed and Islam. This was an act of war, not a crime scene for the FBI to investigate! Some are also reporting that the FBI is not even in Libya at this time.

Talk has started to surface that such conduct is an impeachable offense. We’ll see if Congress has what it takes to move forward on this.

Secondly, his campaign staff along with a complicit media, have thrown out all the stops in an effort to deceive us through phony polls and stories by saying the election is over, and Obama will win.

You cannot trust anything this administration says or does.

3. Those who hate dishonest gain: We are being told by the Left that “we’re on the right road” with Obama, jobs have increased, we’re leaving Afghanistan, and he’ll be the only one able to turn things around. Additionally, the media now maintains many Americans favor only one political party to govern them. (1)

Believe that? Keep in mind that deceptive practices like this will only increase in the days ahead (Matthew 24:4 and 2 Timothy 3:1-5). The whole re-election campaign, along with a willing media, is based on lies in order for Obama to hold on to the presidency.

Dr. McGee will tell you that Jethro’s idea ultimately led to the formation of the Sanhedrin (the Jewish Supreme Court, if you will). During the time Jesus was on the earth, these men were part of a very powerful organization that exerted much control and influence over the people. As Christ’s reputation grew, He threatened their power, causing them to engage in a conspiracy to kill Him (John 11:47-55).

From a spiritual standpoint, we know why this was permitted to happen. Yet it doesn’t alter the fact that their actions were highly illegal, something scripture points out to us (Acts 2:23-24).

The form of government initially established by our fathers could only be entrusted to people who ruled in “the fear of God” (2 Samuel 23:3). Make no mistake, the polices of the Obama administration, like the many uninformed voters, have put us in the trick bag with God.

One Comment to “Trick Bag Revisited”

  1. Kelly Says:

Great points Steve, your comments always engage our minds.

Won’t touch all points, but your #2, about the dishonesty and political posturing of this administration (and the Clintons). We’ve seen it recently being replayed over Benghazi, as they tried to create a smoke screen to cover their security failings by attributing the obvious terror attack to spontaneous protests over the Innocence of Muslims clip.

But how about this admin calling the Fort Hood massacre a case of “workplace violence.” Again an obvious effort to cover a terrible failure! Red flags had been flying high over Hasan for a very long time. The contact of this murderer with a dangerous terrorist along with other irregularities should have caused preventative action that never came…

A case of “political correctness”? I think it must have been more than that and without the facts I don’t want to pounce on every failing. We can’t prosecute people before a crime is committed so the investigators may have been waiting for him to cross a particular line, to construct a bomb or something, that would produce evidence for prosecution. Done!

I also agree this was a touchy situation and that no one would want to trigger a negative event with someone they suspected had become volatile. Then again perhaps someone thought they should leave Hasan in place so that they might use him to track al-Awlaki? We will never know. What we do know is that mistakes in judgment were made and good people were murdered, and to make it worse this administration attempted to defuse the obvious for whatever questionable reasons.

Just this morning I caught a YouTube where some of the surviving shooting victims of the Fort Hood Islamic terror attack speak out about the brutal murder of 13 of their comrades plus sadly one unborn, to the shouts of Allahu Akbar! I’m glad I took the time to watch and listen to these victims, these men and women deserve this voice. (link below)
